Many school districts in San Antonio offer a wide array of before, after, and summer school programs. Outside of school time is important, and parents are welcome to take advantage of the many programs that are offered. San Antonio’s traditional public schools provide a variety of interesting and exciting activities from rock climbing to math tutoring. These kinds of activities are designed to keep students engaged during their time out of school. Below are some of the programs offered to students throughout San Antonio’s traditional public schools.
Several San Antonio-area school districts extend ACE programs to students through the Communities in Schools Afterschool Centers on Education (CIS-ACE). These extra enrichment learning opportunities provide academic and tutorial services to assist students in meeting local and state academic achievement standards in math, reading, social studies, and science.
CIS-ACE also delivers an assortment of enrichment activities such as health, nutrition, wellness, youth development, fine arts, science, technology, physical fitness, community service, career exploration, civic responsibility, mentoring, and workforce readiness. Students and families participating in CIS-ACE are also given opportunities for parenting, literacy, technology, and educational development.
